The launch of an edited collection of essays honouring Professor James Kelly (DCU) will be held in the Royal Irish Academy this November.
This Festschrift, Improvement and nationhood, explores various aspects of Irish life from the beginning of the eighteenth century until the Great Famine, reflecting the interests and scholarly achievements of Professor Kelly, one of the foremost historians of the period.
The contributions cover a broad range of subjects but are united in their concern with the effects of political and social change on the mental landscape of Irish men and women in an era defined by economic improvement and developing senses of nationhood. It was edited by David Hayton (QUB) & Ciarán Mac Murchaidh (DCU).
If you would like to attend, the launch will be held from 1800h-2000h in the Royal Irish Academy on Wednesday, 11 November.
Please RSVP by 4 November to this email address.
