The ECIS postgraduate and early career scholar bursary may be used for the purpose of supporting archival research, the organisation of symposiums/conferences which are either wholly or substantially of relevance to studies of eighteenth-century Ireland, or publication expenses associated with a monograph or other substantial work of original research focused on eighteenth-century Ireland (article processing charges, etc.).
The deadline for applications is Friday 28 March 2025. The bursary should be used within twelve months of confirmation of award.

Eligibility
- Applicants must be members of the Eighteenth-Century Ireland Society at time of application submission;
- Applicants must be a registered Ph.D. student, or must be within eight years of having been awarded their Ph.D. Maternity leave, carer’s leave and similar will be taken into account.
Assessment
Applications are reviewed and assessed by a panel appointed by the Eighteenth-Century Ireland Society, formed of members of the Society’s executive committee.

- Postgraduate students are required to submit a letter of support from their supervisor.
- In addition to the above, please enclose an up-to-date CV.
- All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by the end of April 2025.
Post-award requirements
- Successful applicants will be required to provide a report on their use of the bursary. This report (of 500 words) will be published on the ECIS website.
- The support of the Eighteenth-Century Ireland Society should be acknowledged in any publications arising (in whole or in part) from the bursary, and on all publicity material relating to any event towards which the bursary has been applied.
