The Eighteenth-Century Ireland Society serves to promote original, multidisciplinary research into Ireland in the long eighteenth century. Founded in 1985, it has members across Ireland and internationally. ECIS is open to all.

Membership of ECIS

Membership of the Eighteenth-Century Ireland Society is open to all and costs €35 or €20 for students/unwaged. The internationally peer-reviewed journal, Eighteenth-Century Ireland / Iris an dá chultúr, is distributed to all current members of the society on an annual basis.

A first time membership student offer is open to full or part time registered students who have not previously been members of the Society.

Journal

Founded in 1986, Eighteenth-Century Ireland / Iris an dá chultúr (ISSN: 0790-7915) is a multi-disciplinary journal devoted to the publication of new and cutting edge research on the Irish experience in the eighteenth century.

The journal is received by over 50 libraries, booksellers, museums, archives, universities and other educational institutions. It is published annually and is distributed to all current members of the Society..


ECIS Annual Conference

The ECIS Annual Conference is a highlight of the Society’s work. The most recent conference took place in Trinity College Dublin in June 2025. You can find information on future conferences along with all previous annual conferences on the conference page.
